Thought I would post about our trip to Arkansas. For those of you who don’t know my husband was born and raised in Arkansas until he went to Auburn for College, and then moved to Florida with his Marine Biology degree (we met here). I have previously been to Arkansas briefly for his sister’s wedding but this was a longer trip and I really started to get the feel or Arkansas. We spent our time in Fort Smith, and Beaver Lake (Near Rogers).
DAY 1) We flew into Fort Smith Arkansas and let me tell you its the cleanest airport ever (may also be the smallest) but so clean, great furniture, awesome security & customer service. Anyway’s below you’ll find my outfit (I posted it on my liketoknowit.app & my instagram so you can shop the items) It honestly is the comfiest outfit for travel.
So that was pretty much our day one in Fort Smith, just flying in late and spending some time with Alex’s Gran & Gramps and then heading to bed so we could be ready for the next day.
Day 2) Still in Fort Smith, we went to Alex’s Nana’s house to spend time with her and his mom. We had a blast and went to Alex’s favorite pizza place growing up and to date Geno’s Pizza
I will say I was a bit skeptical because my husband loves most pizzas.. but HANDS DOWN Geno’s has the best homemade Ranch I have ever had, I love ranch on salads and with my pizza. They had awesome fast service a great salad bar and I admit some of the best pizza I have ever had. Highly recommend. (and make sure you get the ranch because I wish they sold it I would have honestly bought it)
After Geno’s his mom & nana took us on a drive tour to show us the parts that had changed in the last 3 years and the artwork installments that are now downtown. I snagged some pictures of the hand painted artwork that pays tributes to the workers in the factory below:
We ended day 2 having a pool party with all of Alex’s Buddies back at his Gran & Pops House. Below is one of the two cute little storage cottages they had on their property & also the cute old well.
Day 3, 4 & 5: We packed up and headed to Beaver Lake to spend time with all of Alex’s siblings, aunts and uncles and cousins on his Mom’s Side. The lake houses were gorgeous, below is a picture of the cute motel that is run by the people who own the lake houses too. They have a cute pool, playground and all the deer come out at night, its really neat.
We spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning at the Lake house. We went boating the water was amazing, it wad 150ft deep in the center of the lake and about 40 surrounding. You could see all the tree under the water which made it an awesome under water forest. We played games, watched the kids play in a sprinkler, and they had some awesome silly string fights, and honestly just hung out. I loved spending the time there because there was little to no service and no wifi so everyone really had to engage. Saturday Morning we finished with some beautiful photos being taken by a photographer. Alex and I headed back a day early which was Saturday morning to his Dad’s parents house Gran & Pops. We ended up going to dinner and then just coming back and chilling with his friends again near the pool.
Day 6: Was Sunday we woke up late and his sister her husband and daughter came over to see us and have Geno’s pizza again.. no complaints again it was amazing. After they left ( they live about an hour or so away from Fort Smith where we were staying) we went to see Alex’s Dads old historic house he is fixing up and I took a photo of his & all the other cute ones that caught my eye on the street.
(Above his dads house, still in the process of restoring it!)
( How cute are these two I found!?!? I am obsessed with old historic homes)
Day 7: We want to a cute little little restaurant called George’s. They are basically hometown famous for their fry portions. They have sandwiches, burgers, chicken tenders, soups, and the incredible fries. (Also their homemade ranch was incredible too!) Super quaint little restaurant, and it was soon busy at lunch. Another great lunch recommendation and a place you have to visit!
Day 8: We were supposed to fly home and our connecting flight was late so we would have missed it either way, so we ended up staying another day and we spent the time at Alex’s Gran & Gramp’s old Screen Printing Shop: B&B Silk Screen Studio. It is no longer running, but they do restore other old printing canvas’s for people, below are some of the pictures I took, the other half of the office is now storage and they have the neatest stuff!
Below: Gramp’s and his 1946 Dodge Truck

Other GREAT EATS in Arkansas:
JJ’s Bar & Grill (awesome fun grill & bar, live music)
Miss Anna’s (super cute little restaurant diner)
Bricktown Brewery & Restaurant
We didn’t have time but if you do we have heard Eureka Springs is awesome!
Hope you enjoyed this post, we loved our trip and cannot wait to go back!
